A man has been prohibited from entering a hospital for three years after making threats to set the facility on fire and repeatedly intimidating staff. Andrew Stonier, aged 31, directed serious abuse and threats towards healthcare workers at Royal Oldham Hospital in Greater Manchester, as stated by Oldham Council.
To safeguard NHS staff at the hospital until June 2029, a criminal behaviour order (CBO) was pursued by the local authority. This order, issued in England and Wales, targets individuals engaged in persistent anti-social behavior. The council cited a series of incidents where Stonier menaced nurses and hospital employees, disrupting operations and necessitating significant time and resources to manage his disruptive behavior.
Under the court order, Stonier is forbidden from entering Royal Oldham Hospital until June 28, 2029, except in specific circumstances like pre-arranged appointments or emergency medical requirements. Breaching the order will lead to arrest. The order specifies that Stonier must not access any part of the hospital, including clinical areas, wards, departments, A&E, or outpatient facilities, except for scheduled appointments with a 30-minute buffer around the visit. An exception allows entry for genuine emergency medical situations.
Violating the CBO conditions may result in further legal action and a return to court, according to Manchester Evening News. An Oldham Council representative denounced Stonier’s unacceptable behavior towards dedicated NHS staff, emphasizing that such conduct will not be tolerated, and decisive action will be taken against those causing harm or disruption in communities.
