A mother tragically passed away at a local medical clinic after enduring a prolonged wait for an appointment, a coroner’s inquiry revealed. Jacqueline Watkins, 66, had been struggling with her health for several days, attempting to see a doctor before finally securing an appointment at her general practitioner’s office in Llanyravon, Wales. Upon arriving for her scheduled appointment on June 18, she collapsed in the waiting room while seated in a chair despite efforts by medical staff to save her.
Her family has expressed concerns about potential lapses in the care she received at the GP practice and is seeking a thorough investigation into the matter. Jacqueline had initially contacted the Llanyravon Surgery earlier in the week when she fell ill at home. The earliest appointment she could secure was at 3 pm on the day she collapsed.
The inquest into her demise was initiated at the Gwent Coroners’ Court, with no specific cause of death disclosed during the initial hearing. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and a comprehensive inquest is scheduled for March next year, as confirmed by Area Coroner Rose Farmer.
