A 16-year-old boy, identified as Iretomiwa Abiodun Micheal but known as Tomiwa, tragically passed away after encountering difficulties while swimming in Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at 8:50pm on July 9, after being rescued from the water three hours earlier.
His family, through Lincolnshire Police, released a heartfelt tribute describing Tomiwa as a vibrant, energetic, and unforgettable young man who brought light to every space he entered. As the oldest of four brothers, he was a natural leader, protector, and source of encouragement. Tomiwa was praised for his punctuality, dedication to his commitments, and meticulous nature.
A social butterfly, Tomiwa was known for his kindness and ability to make friends easily. He was a dedicated student with a passion for football, playing for Greenbank FC and Lincoln City FC. Tomiwa’s love for God was evident in his active participation in church youth programs and his service-oriented attitude.
Despite his short life, Tomiwa leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion. His family finds comfort in their Christian faith, believing in the hope of reunion in the future. Tomiwa’s memory will forever remain in their hearts.
