Man Faces Court Charges for Driving Vehicle at Teens

Date:

A man has faced court charges after an incident where authorities stated that a vehicle was intentionally driven towards several individuals. The occurrence took place in Harbour Road, Skerries, in the north of Dublin on Saturday evening, resulting in injuries to four people, including three teenagers.

Sean McGlone, aged 29 and residing at Beechwood Drive, Drogheda, was brought before Balbriggan District Court this morning. Detective Garda Ultan McElroy mentioned that McGlone was apprehended at his residence on Sunday and subsequently accused of dangerous driving.

According to the Gardaí, they were called to respond to a disturbance around 9:45 pm on Saturday when a sizable group of young people had gathered, leading to a confrontation. A statement from the authorities indicated, “During the incident, a car targeted multiple individuals.”

The police confirmed that three teenagers, comprising two females and a male, were transported to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, a fourth male individual was later revealed to have sustained injuries.

Although the Gardaí did not oppose bail, they requested several restrictions be applied. In agreement with McGlone’s legal counsel, barrister Pearse Collins, Ms Justice Stephanie Coggins stipulated that McGlone must check in at Drogheda Garda Station three times weekly, refrain from visiting Balbriggan and Skerries, avoid contact with potential witnesses, and abstain from alcohol.

Collins mentioned that McGlone worked as a van driver in Duleek, earning around 700 euros per week and traveling nationwide for work. The conditions of bail excluded travel on the M1 road.

During the brief court session, the accused, attired in a green t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms, remained silent. Bail was granted upon McGlone’s undertaking of a 5,000 euro bond with a 1,000 euro cash deposit, with the next court appearance scheduled for September 23.
