“Trump Warns China and Russia Against Backing Iran”

Date:

US President Donald Trump issued a warning to China and Russia regarding their involvement in the conflict with Iran. Trump emphasized the negative consequences it would have for them if they supported Iran in any way.

The tensions between the US and Iran escalated since February 28 when joint American-Israeli airstrikes targeted key Iranian locations. Iran responded by attacking various sites in the region and disrupting the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for global oil trade.

Efforts to end the conflict between the US and Iran through a Memorandum of Understanding signed last month have been unsuccessful, with hostilities resuming recently.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump revealed that both President Xi Jinping of China and President Vladimir Putin of Russia assured him that they would not provide weapons to Iran. Trump quoted Xi as stating that China would not supply weapons to Iran or its companies. Similarly, Putin affirmed that despite the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Russia would refrain from selling arms to Iran.

Trump stressed that the involvement of China and Russia in supporting Iran would not be in their best interests, emphasizing that these major countries are not currently participating in the conflict.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth mentioned that certain details concerning China and Russia’s support for Iran are classified but admitted that both countries are enabling Iran’s actions.
