The Government has revealed an updated Clean Flexibility Roadmap, outlining plans to involve households more actively in managing the nation’s electricity supply and demand. Consumer finance expert Jasmine Birtles has cautioned households against hastily altering their electricity consumption habits, emphasizing that timing adjustments alone may not lead to cost savings. Birtles recommends that consumers first assess their current tariffs before making any changes to their routines.
Jasmine explained, “The key is not to rush into altering your electricity usage based on the news. Simply shifting the timing of your electricity consumption without considering your tariff structure is unlikely to result in savings. The government’s focus is on integrating flexibility into the energy system, rather than just changing usage patterns.”
The latest update to the Clean Flexibility Roadmap aims to enhance Britain’s electricity system by promoting “consumer-led flexibility,” where households can contribute to balancing the grid by adjusting their energy usage patterns.
