“Big Dipper Rollercoaster Evacuated Amid Derailment Concerns”

Date:

Thrill-seekers were compelled to evacuate a renowned attraction at Blackpool Pleasure Beach due to concerns of a potential derailment. The Big Dipper, one of the world’s oldest rollercoasters located at the Pleasure Beach resort in Blackpool, came to a halt around 2 pm on Thursday.

Social media footage showed damaged wooden slats between the rails, sparking speculation of a derailment on the Big Dipper. Pleasure Beach Resort has officially closed the ride for investigation, clarifying that the carriages stopped but did not come off the tracks.

A spokesperson from Pleasure Beach Resort informed LancsLive that the incident occurred at a low point in the ride, leading to a manual evacuation with no reported injuries. An internal investigation is underway to determine the cause of the stoppage, while the duration of the ride closure remains uncertain.

Various individuals shared their experiences on social media, with one mentioning recent maintenance work on the track and others expressing concerns about the ride’s condition. Despite this incident, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been recognized as the top UK destination for family entertainment on holiday, ranking sixth globally among popular attractions.
