The south-east of England could see temperatures reaching 35C today, marking the fourth heatwave of the year. However, the intense heat is not expected to be as widespread as in previous warm weather periods, with cooler temperatures in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England ranging from high-teens to low-20s.
Across the country, temperatures are expected to cool off tomorrow with southern and south-eastern regions experiencing mid to high-20s temperatures. While conditions may still feel warm in the sunshine, most areas will return to typical temperatures for this time of year.
Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick mentioned that temperatures will decrease slightly, providing relief for those who are not fond of the heat. Some light showers are anticipated in parts of England and Wales, with the potential for heavier rain in northern regions, especially Scotland.
The forecast maps from the Met Office indicate heavy showers affecting 29 counties on Thursday, all located in Scotland or Northern Ireland. BBC Weather predicts that some showers in Scotland could turn thundery tomorrow, while northern areas will experience heavy showers, particularly in the north of Scotland. Southern regions are expected to see a mix of cloud cover, drizzle, and sunshine.
Friday will bring sunshine for most in England and Wales, with scattered showers likely in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Saturday is expected to have sunny spells across the country, although Scotland might experience isolated showers in the far north. Sunday will start mostly dry and sunny, but cloud cover will increase later in the day, possibly leading to light rain in some areas.
