“Woman Dies After Cliff Fall at UK Beach”

Date:

A 41-year-old woman tragically passed away following a cliff fall at a beach in the UK earlier this month, as disclosed in an inquest. The incident occurred on Monday, July 2, when Rachel Anne Gwilliam was at Pentreath Beach on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall and fell from a cliff. Emergency services responded to the scene around 12:30pm.

South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust (SWASFT) confirmed that the individual was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. The response involved a land ambulance, two air ambulances, and an operations officer who transferred the patient via air ambulance to Derriford Hospital.

Additionally, HM Coastguard reported that teams from Mullion and Porthoustock, along with an RNLI lifeboat from Lizard and a search and rescue helicopter from Newquay, were present at the scene.

Rachel was admitted to Derriford Hospital for medical care, but unfortunately, her condition did not improve, and she succumbed on July 21 due to a traumatic brain injury from the fall.

An inquest into her death has been initiated by the coroner. During a brief public hearing, Senior Devon coroner Philip Spinney revealed that Rachel Gwilliam, born in Reading, Berkshire, and residing in Billingshurst, was married and employed as an accountant. Mr. Spinney adjourned the inquest, with a comprehensive hearing scheduled for a later date.
