A man named Muhammad Ans has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for committing multiple rapes against women he met through dating apps. Ans, 29, was found guilty of four counts of rape involving three women after a trial at Plymouth Crown Court. In addition to the jail term, he will serve an extra three years on extended licence and has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.
The court heard that Ans targeted his victims on various dating platforms such as Tinder, Bumble, and Badoo between 2023 and 2025. One victim reported that after being raped by Ans, he offered her $3,000 in compensation to keep quiet.
The first assault occurred after Ans contacted a woman on Bumble in late 2023. Following a meal, he took her to his accommodation in Coventry and subjected her to multiple rapes. Despite the victim’s refusal, Ans persisted in contacting her, offering gifts and outings, which she declined.
In another incident, Ans met his second victim on the Badoo app in Tavistock. Despite her explicit refusal for sex, Ans raped her after taking her back to his flat. When confronted, Ans apologized, claiming he couldn’t control himself and offered gifts and outings, which the victim rejected.
After a police investigation, Ans was located in Leeds and arrested. During questioning, he denied the charges but admitted to meeting the victims, asserting that all interactions were consensual. However, his phone was seized for examination, and he was prohibited from contacting the victims while on bail.
Subsequently, a third victim identified Ans through Tinder in August 2025, leading to further charges and his remand in custody. Messages found on Ans’ phone confirmed his interactions with the victims.
At the sentencing, each victim shared the profound impact of Ans’ actions on their lives. Judge Matthew Turner KC emphasized Ans’ manipulation of vulnerable women for his gratification and his lack of remorse. Ans was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
Detective Constable Craig Ferguson highlighted Ans’ consistent pattern of behavior, offering apologies and gifts after committing the assaults. He characterized Ans as a sexual predator who disregarded consent and boundaries, preying on women seeking meaningful relationships.
Ferguson commended the victims for their bravery in testifying and affirmed the police’s commitment to supporting victims of violence and sexual offenses.
