A young man, aged 21, passed away following an incident at an industrial yard where he was reportedly crushed while on duty. The victim, identified as Steven Dougall from Falkirk, lost his life on July 21 at the facility managed by Horizon Reinforcing & Crane Hire Co. Ltd, which was a family business.
Many have paid tribute to Steven, describing him as a diligent and kind-hearted individual. A memorial event featuring a balloon release took place in Dollar Park to honor his memory. Police Scotland stated that while the incident is not being treated as suspicious, they are collaborating with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to investigate further.
Authorities were alerted to the situation around 9:55 am on the day of the tragic event. Despite efforts to save him, the young man succumbed to his injuries at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. The HSE confirmed their involvement in assisting the police with inquiries.
Following Steven’s untimely death, an outpouring of condolences has flooded in from the community. A balloon release ceremony held at Dollar Park was attended by hundreds in remembrance of Steven. An online obituary highlighted the impact Steven had on those around him, emphasizing his work ethic, warmth, and sense of humor.
The obituary also mentioned that Steven’s family has requested privacy as they grieve his loss. Additionally, a memorial football match was organized by Pantry FC, the team Steven played for, to honor his life and spirit. The team expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated and supported the event, underscoring the profound impact Steven had on his loved ones and the community.
