“UK Braces for Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms This Week”

Date:

Downpours are expected to hit various parts of the UK on Wednesday, as per forecasts from the Met Office. Weather maps indicate a low-pressure system moving eastward, with showers possibly escalating into storms in some regions.

While temperatures soared to 29.6C in Wisley, Surrey, over the weekend, this week will bring unsettled conditions. A storm warning has been issued for Northern Ireland on Tuesday. The persistent low-pressure system from the west will continue to bring wet weather across the country. The heaviest rain is anticipated in the Northwest of England and western Scotland.

The evening is likely to see the strongest and most frequent downpours, with potential thunderstorms, especially in Aberdeenshire, Dumfries and Galloway, and Northumberland. Showers are expected to extend to Devon overnight, with temperatures dropping between 12C and 23C, coldest in the north. Thursday also presents a damp outlook, with rain projected for West Yorkshire and East Yorkshire.

The Met Office’s five-day forecast suggests heavy rainfall from Tuesday, with the possibility of thunderstorms, followed by patchy conditions spreading northward until Friday.

Today, the southern regions will remain mostly dry with sunny intervals and high temperatures, while the northern and western areas may experience intermittent rain, particularly in Scotland.

Tonight, isolated thunderstorms are possible in southern England, with the rest of the country staying dry but cloudy, with rain and potential thunderstorm threats.

Tuesday will bring heavy rain in the north, with thunderstorm risks, and scattered showers in the south amid warm and humid conditions, especially windy in the north.

Looking ahead to Wednesday to Friday, the northern regions will see unsettled weather with rain or showers, while the south may experience some initial showers before turning drier by Thursday.
