Newly released video footage captures the daring act of a group of thieves stealing a cash machine by towing it away after attempting to break into it with a hammer. The incident took place in Teddington, southwest London, and was recorded by a witness using a mobile phone early on a Wednesday morning. Authorities are now on the lookout for four men following the discovery of an abandoned vehicle linked to the crime.
In the CCTV footage, one individual dressed in black is seen trying to damage the machine with a hammer. Shortly after, another man is observed driving the vehicle from the road onto the pavement near the ATM located outside a Londis convenience store.
The same man, along with an accomplice, then proceeds to connect cables to the machine, taken from the car’s trunk. Moments later, the vehicle accelerates, forcibly detaching the cash machine from its position on the pavement, causing sparks to fly as it is dragged onto the road.
One of the culprits lingers at the scene, holding a hammer, while a local resident expressed surprise at the incident, mistaking the fallen machine for a collision rather than a theft attempt.
As of now, no arrests have been made, but law enforcement has impounded a deserted vehicle believed to be related to the crime.
