A man described as ‘heavily armed’ was taken into custody at a golf course in California where President Donald Trump was scheduled to hold a fundraiser. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies apprehended Jeanine John Taele, 38, on Sunday afternoon around 3:30 pm as he was observed taking photos and monitoring security measures at the golf course.
The incident took place just days before Trump’s planned hosting of a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner at the same golf club located in Rancho Palos Verdes. Authorities discovered a loaded magazine in Taele’s pocket and later found a loaded pistol and additional ammunition in his vehicle in the parking lot.
Further investigations at Taele’s residence in Downey, California revealed more weapons and ammunition, including a .45 caliber pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, and troubling statements in several notebooks, along with two radio devices. Taele was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing illegal ammunition, including hollow point bullets.
Law enforcement officials have assured the public that there is ‘no credible threat to our communities’ but mentioned that Taele is also being looked into regarding a robbery in the nearby area of El Segundo. The Mirror has reached out to the White House for any comments on the matter.
