Fortunately, there have been no reports of missing persons. As of Tuesday morning, the Aude prefecture confirmed that 1,400 households were still without electricity. The tornado was captured swirling above the village of Verzeille, located a few kilometers east of Pomas, late on Monday in a video shared on social media and verified by Reuters. Many homes in its path suffered shattered windows.

In the aftermath, a man is seen amidst the wreckage of a house damaged by the tornado in Pomas. Debris litters the floor of Saint Julien et Sainte Basilisse church after its roof collapsed due to the tornado. Fallen trees are visible in a cemetery in Pomas, and individuals are pictured covering a damaged building’s roof with a tarp. Pedestrians navigate past a fallen tree and damaged homes in Pomas.

The community is now focused on assessing the damage and initiating cleanup efforts following the destructive tornado.
