However, after the disappointing performance, she dedicated time to refining her putting skills with coach Sean Burke, which proved pivotal for her subsequent success.
Following her intensive practice in Mississauga, Huang went on to clinch consecutive victories on the Ladies European Tour within a month. Her triumph in the PIF London Championship on August 9 made history as she became the youngest player to secure four LET titles at just 17 years, 9 months, and 10 days, surpassing Lydia Ko’s previous record.
Returning to the CPKC Women’s Open this year, Huang exudes newfound confidence and experience. Reflecting on her growth since last year’s tournament, she highlighted her increased comfort on the tour with several major events under her belt. The $2.75-million US CPKC Women’s Open is set to commence at Edmonton’s Royal Mayfair Golf Club, a venue where Huang aims to continue her impressive performance.
Huang is part of a rising cohort of young Canadian golf talents, including Aphrodite Deng, who showcased her skills at a young age by excelling as the low amateur in the previous year’s event. Deng’s achievements, coupled with Huang’s success, have sparked curiosity and admiration within the golfing community, with Golf Canada’s NextGen coach Jeff MacDonald acknowledging the unprecedented accomplishments of these emerging players.
