“Israeli Airstrikes in Southern Lebanon Kill 11, Including Children and Medics”

Date:

Israeli airstrikes targeted a southern Lebanese town resulting in the deaths of at least 11 individuals, including two children and two medics, as reported by Lebanon’s state news agency. Despite a ceasefire agreement in June aimed at halting hostilities between the Israeli military and Hezbollah, Israel has escalated its bombing campaign in southern Lebanon in recent days. The strikes on Sunday claimed the lives of seven people.

During the early hours of Monday, Israeli warplanes struck a residential building in Kfar Rumman, a town in southern Lebanon, leading to the deaths of nine individuals, including two children. Additionally, a separate drone strike on a civilian vehicle in the same town resulted in the fatalities of two medics who were inside the car.

According to the Health Ministry in Lebanon, one of the airstrikes hit a building, causing the deaths of eight people, including a child and two women. The ministry also reported that 11 individuals sustained injuries, including four children and two women.

The Israeli military did not issue an online evacuation warning before the strikes on the town. Questions regarding the awareness of the presence of medics and children at the strike locations, as well as the absence of an evacuation warning, were unanswered by the Israeli military in response to inquiries from Reuters.

Subsequently, a spokesperson for the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for areas around a building in another southern Lebanese town where they planned to target Hezbollah facilities.

Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon have resulted in over 4,300 casualties since Hezbollah initiated rocket attacks on Israel on March 2, following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. Although the ceasefire reduced violence significantly, Israeli forces in southern Lebanon have continued demolishing villages in the self-proclaimed security zone. The Israeli military has persisted in conducting strikes both within the designated zone and to the north, often without prior evacuation notices.
