“Aldi Slashes Prices on Over 200 Items”

Date:

Aldi has rolled out fresh price reductions on more than 200 items, spanning a variety of categories such as fresh and frozen foods, pantry staples, household necessities, and personal care products.

Among the discounted items are select fresh British beef steaks, with reductions of 50p on offerings like the 30 Day Matured British Rump Steak (now priced at £4.69), 30 Day Matured British Sirloin Steak (now at £5.99), and 28 Day Matured British Fillet Steak (now at £6.79).

Additionally, Aldi has slashed prices on popular treats like Gianni Ice Cream Lollies, Watermelon Fruit Lollies, and Ice Cream Cookies, now priced at £1.79 and £1.95 respectively.

Shoppers can also enjoy discounts on beverages, including the New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at £6.99, Aperini Spritz 4-Pack at £5.49, and the reduced price of Aldi’s Lacura SPF50+ Sensitive Lotion from £3.49 to £3.29.

This year, Aldi has dedicated over £200 million to price reductions, with £60 million allocated for the latest cuts. However, consumers are encouraged to compare prices across retailers as lower prices at one store may still be beaten elsewhere.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, emphasized the brand’s commitment to providing customers with affordable options without compromising on quality, especially during times when budget management is crucial.

In a similar move, Waitrose has initiated a £20 million investment to lower prices on more than 160 own-brand products. The reductions, averaging 12%, with some items reduced by over 25%, cover a range of everyday essentials like free-range eggs, onions, chicken thighs, apples, frozen peas, chickpeas, and chopped tomatoes.

Nearly half of the discounted products belong to Waitrose’s Essential range. This initiative marks the ninth round of New Lower Prices since 2023, contributing to Waitrose’s total investment of £162.5 million across 1,000+ products.

In the latest supermarket update, grocery price inflation has eased slightly this month, standing at 3.1% higher compared to last year in May, a decrease from 3.8% in April and 4.3% in March, as reported by Worldpanel by Numerator.
