Aldi has slashed prices on a wide range of products this January, including fresh and frozen foods, pantry staples, household items, and personal care products.
Among the discounted items are red lentils now priced at 99p, down from £1.39, porridge sachets reduced to 79p from 99p, and organic steel cut oats marked down to £1.99 from £2.19. Additionally, beef and pork Bolognese mince now costs £4.49, down from £4.79, while pork and gammon joints are priced at £3.49, reduced from £3.99. Shoppers can also enjoy savings on sweetcorn, large free-range eggs, beef flank steak, and vegetable pieces and meatballs.
The price cuts represent an investment exceeding £22 million by Aldi to ensure affordability for their customers. Julie Ashfield, Aldi UK’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the supermarket’s commitment to offering great value without compromising quality, especially amid the challenges faced by shoppers during their weekly grocery trips.
In addition to the price reductions, Aldi is on track to open 40 new stores in the UK this year, with an investment of £370 million in locations such as Southam, Hastings, and Amersham. This initiative is part of Aldi’s broader plan to reach 1,500 stores in the UK, with recent store openings in locations like Kirkintilloch, Eastbourne, Fulham Broadway, and Deeside.
Aldi’s dedication to providing budget-friendly options has been recognized, as it was named the cheapest supermarket in 2025 by Which? consumer rights magazine. The supermarket maintained its affordability throughout the year, with only a slight price difference compared to Lidl. In December, Aldi emerged as the most cost-effective option for a list of 68 items, with Lidl following closely behind. Asda and Tesco were priced higher for the same items during that period.
By continuously reviewing prices and expanding its store network, Aldi aims to offer a combination of value and quality to its customers, making grocery shopping more affordable and convenient.
