Emails from the autumn of 2010, part of the recent release of the US Department of Justice’s Epstein files, suggest that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor communicated with a Libyan contact to facilitate a meeting between Jeffrey Epstein and Colonel Gaddafi in Tripoli. The correspondence reveals Epstein expressing his interest in meeting Gaddafi, indicating that individuals had suggested the meeting to discuss financial matters.
Channel 4 News identified “the father” in the emails as referring to Muammar Gaddafi, the late Libyan leader. Following Epstein’s initial communication with royal aide David Stern, Andrew was consulted on the matter. In subsequent emails signed “A”, Andrew, who was the UK’s trade envoy at the time, mentioned discussions with his Libyan contact to arrange the Tripoli meeting.
Despite the correspondence indicating that the meeting was arranged, it appears that Epstein did not travel to Tripoli for the planned meeting. Thames Valley Police have reportedly been in discussions with the Crown Prosecution Service regarding allegations that Andrew shared confidential reports from his role as the UK’s trade envoy with Epstein. Press Association has reached out to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for comment.
