A woman who identifies herself as an aristocrat has rescinded her invitation to Prince Andrew, citing threats of violence as the reason.
Lady Carbisdale, a barrister and businesswoman who has owned Carbisdale Castle since 2022, recently made a public statement on social media offering her estate as a possible accommodation for Prince Andrew. This offer came in response to reports suggesting that Andrew may be relocated to a smaller royal Highland castle in light of allegations linked to Jeffrey Epstein.
Following a negative and “hostile” public reaction to her offer, Samantha Kane, the owner of the castle in Scotland, decided to withdraw the invitation. However, she mentioned that the venue remains available for the royal family if the need arises.
In a post on Facebook, Kane explained that she had initially written to King Charles III and Prince Andrew to update them on the restoration progress at Carbisdale Castle. She also shared the public’s negative feedback regarding her offer of support, which included hostile responses and threats of violence. Kane expressed her belief that the offer may not be feasible unless deemed appropriate by the Crown.
Prince Andrew had announced on October 17 his decision to relinquish his royal titles shortly before the release of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, in which she accused him. The prince has consistently denied the allegations and settled out of court in 2022 without admitting guilt.
In his statement on October 17, Prince Andrew mentioned that discussions with the King and his family led to the decision that ongoing accusations against him were diverting attention from the royal duties. He emphasized his commitment to his family and country and announced his withdrawal from public life, including the relinquishment of his titles.
Samantha Kane, known for undergoing multiple gender transitions, is reported to have invested significant funds in restoring Carbisdale Castle, originally constructed for the Duchess of Sutherland in 1907.
