Numerous police vehicles, matrix vans, and two fire engines were visible on the street, accompanied by heavily armed Merseyside police officers responding to reports of a confrontation with a man in a hotel room.
Merseyside Police stated that they were present on Seel Street in Liverpool on the evening of Saturday, May 9, as part of efforts to locate a missing man. The situation escalated as armed police officers approached a city center hotel, where they apprehended a man and confiscated a sword after a standoff. The incident unfolded at the Ropewalks Hotel on Seel Street around 4 pm, following sightings of the missing individual in the vicinity.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Merseyside Police officers faced threats from the man inside a hotel room. As a precautionary measure, officers established a containment while engaging with the individual. The standoff persisted until approximately 8 pm when a 35-year-old man from Tuebrook was arrested, and a sword was recovered.
