An examination conducted on the deceased woman, Renee Good, determined which of the three gunshots fired by an ICE officer caused her death in an incident that took place in Minneapolis.
The autopsy, which was arranged by Renee’s family, revealed that she sustained gunshot wounds to her left forearm and breast, with the latter not affecting any vital organs. However, neither of these injuries was deemed life-threatening.
According to attorneys representing her family, a third bullet entered Renee’s head near the temple and exited on the right side, causing a graze wound as well.
The family’s legal team stated that the autopsy was performed by a reputable independent medical pathologist. Attorney Antonio M. Romanucci, who previously represented George Floyd’s family, expressed confidence in the evidence gathered, emphasizing their ongoing investigation to support their case.
The video evidence of the events on January 7, 2026, was cited as clear by the attorneys, especially when evaluated based on reasonable policing standards and the overall circumstances. The official autopsy report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office regarding the January 7 shooting has not been released yet.
Renee, aged 37, was shot while seated in her SUV during an altercation involving ICE officer Jonathan Ross. Ross, holding a mobile phone, recorded Renee and her partner before positioning himself in front of their vehicle.
Subsequently, another ICE agent instructed Renee to exit the SUV, leading to her moving the vehicle forward. Conflicting reports emerged regarding whether Renee intentionally struck Ross with the car, as shown in video footage where she appeared to steer away from him.
Following the shooting, Ross was heard using derogatory language before Renee’s SUV collided with parked cars. The incident has sparked a divisive reaction among Americans, with conservatives defending Ross’s actions and liberals condemning the killing.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled Renee as a “domestic terrorist” without providing any substantiating evidence, asserting that Ross acted in self-defense.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticized federal officials and demanded ICE to leave the city of Minnesota. An ongoing FBI investigation is underway into the shooting incident.
