Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show Criticizes Trump Admin

Date:

Bad Bunny subtly criticized the Trump administration during the Super Bowl LX halftime show, making a reference to his Grammy’s speech. Prior to his performance at Levi’s Stadium in California, the American artist faced backlash, including remarks from President Trump himself.

In an interview with the New York Post regarding Bad Bunny and Green Day’s halftime show performance, President Trump expressed disapproval, calling it a “terrible choice” that fosters hatred. Consequently, Trump skipped the Super Bowl, citing distance as a factor. In response to the controversy, Bad Bunny incorporated subtle remarks into his performance.

During the show, a snippet of his Grammy’s speech played on a small screen in front of a family, including a young boy. In the speech, Bad Bunny stated, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out,” referring to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency’s recent activities. He then presented his Grammy to the young boy, symbolizing a passing of the torch to the next generation.

Additionally, the halftime show concluded with an onscreen banner declaring, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love,” as Bad Bunny marched with various flags representing immigrants in the US. This segment sparked discussions among viewers, with many appreciating the symbolic gesture.

While some praised the performance as a celebration of America, others had mixed reactions. Despite differing opinions, the production quality was acknowledged, with viewers highlighting the entertainment value of the show.

Super Bowl 60 featuring the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks is scheduled for February 8. Fans can watch the live broadcast for 99p through DAZN’s NFL Game Pass, which includes access to the authentic US broadcast, halftime show, and all NFL content until July 31.
