Citizens in the UK are preparing for severe winter conditions soon, as an incoming storm known as the ‘Beast from the East’ threatens to bring snow and extremely cold temperatures to 31 cities.
According to advanced weather predictions by WXCharts, significant parts of the UK are expected to experience snow blizzards starting on Wednesday, March 11. Regions in the north, such as Scotland and the northern part of England, are likely to witness heavy snowfall, while areas like the Midlands could also be covered in white by the second week of March.
In addition, snow showers are anticipated in the southwest of England, including cities like Bristol and Bath, as well as in London and the southern regions, where snow accumulation of 2 to 4cm is possible. During this period, temperatures are forecasted to drop significantly across the country, possibly reaching lows of -4C.
Recent weather forecasts suggest that areas in Wales, the Midlands, and northern England may also see snowfall at various times. Furthermore, snow is expected in the North West of England and Northern Ireland in the early hours of March 11.
The Met Office’s long-range forecast for early March indicates that the weather will be changeable, with a mix of Atlantic frontal systems moving across the UK, alternating with periods of drier and sunnier weather.
“The northwest is expected to receive the heaviest rainfall, while eastern areas will likely experience less precipitation. Some snowfall is possible on high ground in the north, with intermittent strong winds and a potential for gales. Temperatures are forecasted to be around average or slightly above,” the forecast states.
