Beloved Grandfather Remembered Amid M60 Tragedy

Friends and relatives of a cherished grandfather who tragically lost his life in a triple collision on the M60 have shared memories of how he lived his life with a youthful enthusiasm, while authorities are seeking details about the incident.

David Shepherd, aged 59, a motorcyclist, passed away on Sunday, October 12, following an accident involving two cars and a motorcycle on the M60 clockwise carriageway, close to Salford between junctions 15 and 16. Two drivers were apprehended by Greater Manchester Police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the crash. Subsequently, both individuals were released on bail as further investigations are conducted.

The family of Mr. Shepherd honored him by highlighting his vibrant and youthful approach to life in a poignant statement issued after his sudden demise. According to a family representative, he was described as a caring father, grandfather, brother, partner, and friend who exuded a boyish charm and a perpetual smile. He embraced each day with positivity and brought joy to those around him, leaving an enduring mark on their hearts.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police confirmed that an inquiry is underway into the incident and made a public appeal for any relevant information. The spokesperson mentioned that two drivers had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries.

As the investigation continues, the Serious Collision Investigation Unit of the police force is urging anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the case.

The collision on October 23 led to significant traffic disruptions at the time, with extensive queues of vehicles visible in photos following the incident, which occurred shortly after 6 pm.
