A popular figure in the bodybuilding community collapsed and passed away suddenly shortly after returning home from a workout session.
Mailson Araújo, who was gearing up for a significant professional event, tragically died at his residence in Alagoinhas, Brazil, on Monday evening. The 35-year-old felt unwell upon arriving home from his training and sought help from his parents. Despite his mother, a nurse, administering CPR and the efforts of firefighters and emergency responders on-site, he could not be revived.
Mailson, a professional Men’s Physique competitor with a substantial following of over 32,000 fans on Instagram, was declared deceased at his residence. Prior to his passing, he had shared videos and images of his gym routine and physiotherapy session on social media.
The exact cause of his untimely death remains unconfirmed by authorities, prompting an outpouring of condolences from the bodybuilding community. One source expressed sympathies, conveying, “Brazil Bodybuilding News extends heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, friends, and the entire bodybuilding fraternity. May God provide solace during this challenging time.”
Having achieved professional status in 2023 following a victory at the Arnold Classic South America in São Paulo, Mailson garnered notable rankings, such as third place at Musclecontest Brazil 2023, fifth place in his professional debut at Bahia Pro 2023, and several other top-four finishes.
Scheduled to participate in the esteemed Musclecontest Brazil 2026 event in Curitiba this weekend, Mailson was poised for a return to the competition stage following a lighter schedule. In addition to his athletic pursuits, he worked as an online sports advisor, regularly sharing training, nutrition, and recovery tips with his audience.
His final Instagram posts were met with messages of grief from friends and followers. His remains were laid to rest at the Jardim Paraíso da Saudade Cemetery in Alagoinhas.
