Emergency services were called to a security incident at a golf club owned by Donald Trump shortly after his son departed this afternoon. The Defence Forces’ Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, also known as the bomb squad, was dispatched to the Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg, County Clare, Ireland in response to a suspicious envelope containing a powdery substance. The situation unfolded following the departure of businessman Eric Trump, 42, who flew to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Both Donald Trump and Eric Trump are currently in Davos, Switzerland, attending the WEF event themed “A Spirit of Dialogue” from January 19 to January 23. The five-star hotel had previously faced a bomb threat that prompted a police investigation. Despite the security alert, the hotel remained open during the winter closure period.
Authorities, including a specialist sniffer dog from Dublin, conducted a search on the premises but found nothing alarming. The Defence Forces spokesperson declined to provide further details, stating that the operation was ongoing. Gardai confirmed an ongoing incident in west Clare without specifying the location, although sources revealed it was at Mr. Trump’s hotel complex.
Eric Trump had stayed at the hotel the night before flying to Switzerland. Donald Trump had shared a post showcasing the Doonbeg site as the venue for the upcoming Irish Golf Open in September.
