“Boy thrown from Tate Modern makes incredible recovery”

Date:

The family of a young boy, who was thrown from the 10th floor of an art gallery six years ago, has provided a positive update. The French child, who was six at the time, suffered severe injuries in the attack at the Tate Modern in London. The incident, orchestrated by teenager Jonty Bravery in August 2019, resulted in the boy sustaining a brain bleed and broken bones.

Recently, the boy’s family shared that he has made significant progress in his recovery. He can now run, jump, and swim again, marking a remarkable improvement in his condition. Affectionately called the ‘Little Knight’ by his family, he successfully achieved his goal of cycling from home to the seaside, a journey taking 2.5 hours, earlier this year. Although he is scheduled for another major operation in early 2026, necessitating a two-month recovery period, he has regained his physical abilities.

During the summer, the family recounted how the boy practiced riding his tricycle with his father’s assistance, gradually building up to a challenging seaside picnic trip. Despite his ongoing memory limitations, which are steadily improving, the boy is becoming more involved with other children. Furthermore, his psychomotor therapy has helped him relax and understand the importance of taking breaks to alleviate pain caused by his previous compensatory behavior.

Although he requires 10 rehabilitation sessions per week and can only attend half of his classes due to his health needs, his family is searching for a school that can accommodate his full academic schedule alongside his rigorous rehabilitation regimen. The family expressed the need to relocate for access to a suitable school, given their son’s upcoming immobilization period to enhance his progress and reduce discomfort.

The boy is anxious about his upcoming operation, but the surgeon is optimistic about the boy’s advancements thus far and the positive outcomes expected post-surgery. His family has been updating his recovery journey on a GoFundMe page, which has raised over £476,000 to support his ongoing medical needs.

Jonty Bravery, who was 17 and in supported accommodation at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison in 2020.
