Britain is bracing for a prolonged period of snow over eight days in the upcoming weeks. Recent weather forecasts from WXCharts suggest that 25 towns and cities across the country will witness snowfall starting from the early hours of Tuesday, March 10, until the afternoon of Tuesday, March 17.
According to the charts, snow is expected to arrive at 6 am on March 10, affecting regions such as North Wales, North West England, Northern Ireland, and much of Scotland. Accumulations of up to 7cm are anticipated in the Lake District, with central Scotland likely to receive 11cm of snow.
The Met Office has also predicted “unsettled conditions” nationwide during this period. By Sunday, March 15, the maps show significant snowfall covering northern England, with cities like Newcastle and Carlisle expecting between 2cm and 4cm of snow.
Northern Ireland is forecasted to receive 1cm to 2cm of snow on the same day, while Scotland, especially western regions, could see accumulations of up to 26cm. Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are expected to receive around 5cm of snow, with wintry showers extending into the following week.
Further snowfall is projected for Tuesday, March 17, with parts of North West England anticipating up to 7cm of snow during the afternoon. Scotland is likely to experience heavy snowfall, with western regions expecting around 29cm. Glasgow and Inverness could see 5cm and 6cm of snow respectively.
Looking ahead to the period from Sunday, March 8, to Tuesday, March 17, the Met Office forecasts “unsettled” weather patterns in the northwest, with temperatures expected to be near or slightly above average. The forecast suggests a split in weather conditions, with dry and bright weather likely in the south and east of the UK, while rain-bearing systems affect the northwest, accompanied by strong winds at times.
