The partner of a British soldier has given an important update following his severe injuries in a quad bike accident in Greece, where he is now in a coma.
Ethan Jones, a 21-year-old Army Reservist from Bradford, sustained significant wounds in the incident that occurred in Rhodes. Reports suggest that the rented quad bike he was operating collided with a bollard. Ethan and his girlfriend Olivia Allsopp, 20, were vacationing on the island when the crash happened.
Although the exact details of the accident remain unclear, Olivia provided an update on Ethan’s condition while he is being treated in a hospital. She mentioned, “Ethan is gradually showing signs of improvement.” The medical team is slowly reducing the sedatives that induced the coma, and they have decreased his oxygen supply from 50% to 40%, indicating improved natural breathing.
Ethan received immediate medical attention and remains in a coma due to severe head injuries. Olivia has initiated a fundraising campaign to cover the expenses of transferring Ethan back to the UK.
The GoFundMe initiative has raised approximately £23,000 so far. Olivia stated that Ethan was moved to an ICU in Crete, and she was not allowed to accompany him.
She has made efforts to travel from Rhodes to Crete to reach the hospital where Ethan is being treated. Olivia mentioned that she has seen some of Ethan’s injuries but is still trying to consult with a doctor from the ICU. Ethan’s injuries include severe conditions that require prayers and support from well-wishers.
Statistics from Brittany Ferries’ travel insurance data revealed that around 4.4 million individuals suffered injuries while traveling abroad in the past three years, with 27% of holidaymakers experiencing accidents or witnessing them.
