“Bulgaria Reigns as Top Budget-Friendly Summer Escape”

Date:

Bulgaria has been highlighted as the prime destination for an economical summer escape this year, particularly for families. TravelSupermarket, a popular travel website, has identified Bulgaria as the most cost-effective country for individuals planning a sun-soaked all-inclusive holiday in 2026. The average cost for a week-long stay in Bulgaria is approximately £760 per person, securing the top spot on the affordability list. Following closely behind are Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862.

These findings are based on an analysis of family holiday searches conducted between October 5 of the previous year and last week, focusing on travel between May and September 2026. The study revealed significant price variations among favored destinations.

Among the 13 popular destinations assessed, Bulgaria stands out with a £54 decrease per person, representing a 7% drop since the previous summer. On the contrary, Cyprus emerged as the most expensive option in the selection, with an average cost of £1,186 per person.

Spain, a perennial favorite among British travelers, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, secured the fourth position on this year’s list with an average cost of £888 per person, maintaining prices relatively stable compared to 2025. Turkey ranked 11th, averaging £1,057 per person, while Greece followed in 12th place with an average cost of £1,096.

Croatia positioned itself as the 10th most economical destination for this summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person. However, the typical expenses for a trip to Croatia have decreased by 12% compared to the previous year, making it £136 cheaper this summer.

For families considering long-haul destinations, TravelSupermarket found that Cape Verde offers the best value at £1,247 per person, closely followed by the United Arab Emirates at £1,297, the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694.

Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, expressed optimism about Bulgaria’s resurgence as the top choice for budget-friendly all-inclusive getaways. He also noted the continued affordability of Tunisia and Morocco, with Croatia experiencing a significant price drop, providing excellent value for families.
