Carlos Alcaraz Defeats Sinner to Secure Second Consecutive US Open

Date:

Carlos Alcaraz clinched victory over Jannik Sinner to claim his second consecutive US Open title in a dominant performance. The Spaniard triumphed over his Italian rival in four sets, with a scoreline of 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

At just 22 years old, Alcaraz now boasts an impressive total of six Grand Slam titles. Surpassing his compatriot Rafa Nadal, he joins Bjorn Borg as one of the youngest players to achieve this milestone.

Following his win, Alcaraz reclaimed the top spot in the global rankings. This marked the third time this year that he and Sinner had faced off in a Grand Slam final, with Alcaraz showcasing clear dominance in their latest encounter.

Alcaraz took an early lead by securing the first set while spectators were still entering the Arthur Ashe Stadium amidst delays related to security concerns surrounding Donald Trump’s presence. Although Sinner fought back to claim the second set, Alcaraz maintained control for the remainder of the match.

In the fourth set, Sinner saved two championship points before Alcaraz sealed the victory on his third attempt. Notably, the set dropped against Sinner was the only one Alcaraz conceded throughout the entire tournament, demonstrating his exceptional skill.

Commenting on Alcaraz’s performance, former British No.1 Tim Henman praised the Spaniard’s serving prowess, likening it to that of the game’s elite servers. Alcaraz’s impeccable serve limited Sinner’s chances and allowed him to play with freedom and confidence.

In a gracious post-match statement, Sinner commended Alcaraz and his team for their outstanding performance and acknowledged the support from the enthusiastic fans. Alcaraz reciprocated the respect, acknowledging Sinner’s consistent level of play throughout the season and expressing gratitude for the shared experiences on and off the court.

Additionally, Sky Sports has introduced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season. The package offers substantial savings and access to over 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including at least 215 live Premier League games.
