CCTV Footage Reveals Final Moments of Woman with Alleged Murderer

Date:

CCTV footage revealed the final moments a woman was seen before disappearing with an alleged double murderer, according to court testimony. Simon Levy, 40, was observed on CCTV entering a secluded area in a B&M car park in High Road, Tottenham, alongside Sheryl Wilkins, 39, on August 24 of the previous year, as detailed in proceedings at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Prior to this, CCTV footage captured the encounter between Ms. Wilkins and the man accused of her murder as he disembarked from a 149 bus and trailed her as she passed the bus stop. The footage shows Ms. Wilkins in a crop top, accompanied by the defendant wearing a hood, moments before they paused outside the B&M car park.

Ms. Wilkins was last seen before disappearing from the view of the CCTV cameras just before 1 am. It is alleged that Levy then suffocated her in what is believed to be a sexually motivated crime, a charge he denies.

Approximately 45 minutes after Ms. Wilkins was last sighted, Levy is seen adjusting his hood and later reappearing with sunglasses, which he wears due to partial sightedness. He steps out onto the nearby pavement, scans the area, and then returns behind the wall, glancing back as he does. Subsequently, he emerges again, heading back to his residence on Beaufoy Road, reaching there around 2 am.

During the timeframe of the alleged murder and the subsequent hours, several cars are seen turning in the car park, and an unidentified individual is observed walking and looking behind the wall, yet Ms. Wilkins remained undiscovered.

Later that morning, around 6:30 am, two plainclothes police officers arrived on the scene and found Ms. Wilkins. The jury was shown graphic footage of the discovery of her body.

Testimony revealed that Boray Is was driving a grey BMW car, captured on CCTV making a U-turn in the B&M car park at 1:45 am. Is testified that he saw a male on the ground behind the car park wall, initially thinking the person was homeless. He described the individual as wearing a hoodie and jeans, with partial visibility of his face and buttocks.

Another witness, Qathar Ali, whose Mercedes was recorded driving around the car park at 1:37 am, mentioned seeing a black man kneeling and lying on his left side near his car. He explained that the area was known for illicit activities but indicated he was not permitted to intervene.

Levy faces charges of murdering both Ms. Wilkins and another woman, Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, under similar circumstances five months apart in the previous year. Prosecutors allege that he solicited the women for sexual services before killing them, a claim he refutes. Levy also stands accused of raping a third woman in January of the same year, with prior convictions for sexual offenses, six of which occurred within the same period.

The court was informed that the officers initially mistook Ms. Wilkins’ body for the alleged victim of the January assault, believed to have occurred behind the same wall where her body was discovered.

The trial at the Old Bailey is ongoing.
