Users experienced warnings of “unusual activity detected on your phone,” inability to load past conversations, and initiate new ones. In the UK, ChatGPT remains offline, as confirmed by users noting the app’s continued unavailability. Comments on Downdetector revealed connection losses and recommendations to switch to Singapore or Taiwan networks using VPN to resolve regional interruptions.

A significant number of complaints originated from London, Manchester, and Birmingham, with nearly 6,000 problem reports by 3:52 pm. Frustrated users expressed their inability to commence new chats on ChatGPT, encountering error messages like “hmmm something seems to have gone wrong” when trying to engage in conversations. Despite operational issues, some users retained saved chats, attributing smoother performance to the paid version of ChatGPT accessed via the app.

Reports displayed a sharp rise in ChatGPT issues during the afternoon, leading to chat initiation and continuation obstacles on the platform.
