Co-op Bank to Cut Hours at 40 Branches, Citing Declining Visits

Date:

The Co-operative Bank plans to reduce operating hours at 40 branches starting next year. Some branches will experience a cut of up to three hours per week, with 18 branches closing for one day a week. For instance, the Brighton branch, previously open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays, will now operate from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Similarly, the Caerphilly branch, currently open from 9am to 4pm on weekdays, will adjust its hours to 10am to 2pm and will be closed on Wednesdays.

The Co-operative Bank, serving 2.5 million customers, announced on its website that these changes are a response to declining branch visits. The bank stated that more customers are opting for mobile, online, or telephone banking services. Despite reduced branch hours, the bank assures customers that branch teams will continue to support them through other channels. Additionally, if a branch is closed on a weekday, the nearest branch will remain open.

To locate the nearest Co-operative Bank branch, individuals can use the bank’s online branch finder tool.
