“Conor McGregor Pulls Out of UFC White House Event”

Date:

Conor McGregor has officially announced that he will not be participating in the upcoming UFC event hosted at the White House. Initially, McGregor was rumored to headline the event on June 14 on President Trump’s front lawn, facing off against Michael Chandler. However, recent developments indicate that McGregor will likely make his return to the octagon in July instead.

In a statement to Smash Cast, McGregor expressed his initial excitement about the White House event, highlighting the anticipated matchup against Chandler. Despite his preparation for the fight and respect for Chandler as an opponent, McGregor acknowledged the decision to postpone the bout and expressed his eagerness to get back into the ring.

Furthermore, McGregor revealed his intention to compete at welterweight for his upcoming fight. Emphasizing his increased size and physicality, McGregor expressed readiness to accept any opponent offered to him. While awaiting a formal contract for his next fight, McGregor’s manager is actively engaging in negotiations in Las Vegas.

With McGregor’s withdrawal, the White House card may now feature Jon Jones making his comeback to the octagon, potentially squaring off against former middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who recently vacated his 205lb title.
