The satirical candidate, known for challenging Nigel Farage, has put forward unique proposals, including suggesting Wayne Rooney as a commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest. This idea stemmed from Rooney’s recent critique of the World Cup halftime show, which earned him acclaim for his candidness.
Additionally, Binface proposed a ban on MPs who resign in the middle of a parliamentary term from participating in ensuing by-elections, a move that would impact the leader of Reform UK. Binface firmly stated, “I will not be swayed by £5 million offerings from crypto billionaires (on Earth).” Farage framed the upcoming by-election as a battle between the populace and the establishment.
The scrutiny on Farage intensified due to an ongoing investigation by Parliament’s standards commissioner regarding a £5 million gift he received from a crypto tycoon in Thailand. Farage defended the gift as personal and without obligations, amidst criticism over Reform’s advocacy for reducing capital gains tax on crypto transactions.
In a flurry of unconventional proposals, Binface, real name Jonathan Harvey, recommended capping bus fares at £1.99 and limiting the price of 99 Flake ice creams to 99p. Furthermore, he suggested implementing a windfall tax on celebrity-authored “cosy crime novels,” using the Labour Party Manifesto to fill potholes, and ensuring fairness in arcade grabber games.
Binface also threw his hat in the ring as the UK’s Eurovision representative for 2027, with Clacton slated to host the event. He emphasized his commitment to prior pledges, such as reviving Ceefax, nationalizing Adele, and renaming HS2 as FFS2.
Critics lambasted Farage for entering a crowded field of 32 candidates, including a fictional adversary in the form of a bin. Amidst the mockery, former Chancellor Rachel Reeves mocked the situation, highlighting the farcical nature of the race and the taxpayers’ burden it poses.
