The father of a seven-year-old girl who was swept out to sea in Morocco is seeking specialized assistance to aid in locating her following the cessation of the official search efforts.
Inaayah Makda, hailing from Blackburn, Lancashire, was sitting with her parents on rocks at a beach in Casablanca when they were struck by a powerful wave on January 28. Despite extensive search operations hindered by adverse weather conditions, Moroccan authorities concluded the search by the end of February without any success in locating the child.
Zubair Makda, the father, mentioned that the family is persisting in their independent search for Inaayah but emphasized the necessity of expert support. He took to the Blackburn Muslim Group on Facebook to share, “My daughter went missing at Lala Maryem Beach in Casablanca, Morocco on January 28, and she remains unaccounted for after being swept into the sea by a sudden large wave.”
Detailing the tragic incident, he explained, “We were unexpectedly hit by a sneaker wave from behind and caught in a rip tide with limited time to react. Despite weeks of search efforts, the Moroccan authorities have not been able to locate her and have terminated the search. We now require additional expertise to assist in locating her.”
Appealing for assistance, he added, “If anyone has contacts familiar with the sea dynamics in the area and possesses expertise in sea drift modeling, it would greatly benefit us in identifying search areas.”
The family was on the first night of a week-long vacation when the incident occurred. Zubair and his wife, Tasneem Makda, expressed the profound impact of losing their only child as “devastating.”
Describing Inaayah as a “bright and gentle little girl,” her family conveyed that her disappearance continues to be “the most painful and unimaginable time of our lives.”
