A Halloween event for children has stirred up disappointment among parents, who likened it to the infamous Glasgow Willy Wonka event from the previous year. The event, called Glasghost, was marketed as a spooky indoor experience featuring a ghost train, silent disco, bouncy castle, laser tag, and a pumpkin patch.
However, parents attending the event over the weekend expressed dissatisfaction, mentioning that the silent disco only played Michael Jackson’s Thriller on repeat and activities like laser tag ended up being underwhelming with makeshift walls made of black sheets. Criticism also extended to the pumpkin patch and the ghost train, which was described as terrible.
Tickets for children were priced at £16, while adults paid £26 or more based on the chosen time slot. Some attendees drew parallels between Glasghost and the viral Willy’s Chocolate Experience, where expectations fell short.
One parent, Elaine Wylie, shared her disappointment on TikTok, labeling the event as chaotic. She highlighted issues with the silent disco and the lackluster attractions, emphasizing the poor value for money.
Another visitor commented that they had requested a refund due to the poor experience, echoing sentiments of others who found the event subpar for the price paid. Social media was abuzz with complaints from various parents who felt misled by the event’s advertising, urging others to avoid it.
The organizers, Fan Frontier, acknowledged initial operational challenges during the event’s launch but claimed to have addressed and resolved most issues promptly. They emphasized that while there were shortcomings, the majority of guests enjoyed the event, commending the atmosphere, activities, and on-site team.
Fan Frontier assured that they were actively reviewing feedback to improve future events, dismissing comparisons to unrelated incidents and affirming their commitment to high production standards.
