“Earn Nectar Points on Sainsbury’s via Uber Eats”

Date:

Shoppers are encouraged to input their Nectar details before making purchases from Sainsbury’s through Uber Eats. In a significant extension of the loyalty program, customers can now earn one Nectar point for every pound spent on eligible Sainsbury’s items via the Uber Eats platform. It is essential for shoppers to enter their complete Nectar card number during checkout to ensure they receive points, as points cannot be added retroactively.

The new collection feature is now accessible at participating Sainsbury’s stores on Uber Eats, with a broader rollout encompassing more than 1,300 locations throughout the UK. This enhancement allows customers utilizing the fast-delivery service for fresh groceries, household necessities, or last-minute buys to accumulate rewards on their orders.

Upon adding a Nectar card, qualifying points will be deposited into the shopper’s account within 28 days, with a minimum spending threshold of £1 in place. Certain products are excluded from earning points, such as gift vouchers, baby milk, lottery tickets, tobacco, alcohol, and various other items. Additional regulations are enforced for alcohol purchases made in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

This launch expands the existing collaboration between Nectar and Uber, permitting members to convert points into vouchers for Uber rides and Uber Eats purchases. Consequently, customers can amass Nectar points when purchasing Sainsbury’s groceries through Uber Eats and subsequently redeem their balance for an Uber voucher. To redeem points, members should navigate to the “Partners” section in the Nectar app and select Uber.

Katie Hunter, Uber Eats’ general manager for grocery and retail in the UK, expressed satisfaction with bringing Nectar points directly to Sainsbury’s orders through Uber Eats, emphasizing the added flexibility, convenience, and value for customers. Mark Given, Sainsbury’s chief technology, marketing, and data officer, emphasized that the expansion offers Nectar members another way to benefit from the partnership, underscoring the increased value customers can derive from Nectar through various everyday activities.

Shoppers interested in accruing points must choose groceries from a participating Sainsbury’s store via Uber Eats and input their Nectar card number before finalizing the transaction.
