“easyJet Launches Liverpool to Naples Route for Pizza Lovers”

Date:

EasyJet introduces a new route connecting a UK airport to one of the world’s renowned culinary destinations. Residents in Liverpool and surrounding areas will soon have the chance to travel from Liverpool’s airport to Naples, with tickets starting at just £40.99. This latest addition expands easyJet’s network to 41 routes covering 17 countries in Europe and North Africa.

Naples, famously known as the birthplace of pizza, holds a significant place in culinary history, with pizza originating there in the 1600s. UNESCO recognizes the Neapolitan tradition of pizza making as an intangible cultural heritage. According to a 2019 YouGov survey involving 25,000 people across 24 nations, Italian cuisine is globally esteemed, and Naples boasts numerous exceptional pizzerias.

Among these pizzerias is L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, established in 1870, known for its minimalistic menu featuring perfected classic Margherita and Marinara pizzas. Sorbillo is also highly regarded for its airy dough and fresh toppings. Besides savoring pizza, visitors can take a short train ride from Naples to Pompeii, the ancient Roman city tragically preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.

Pompeii is not just a set of ruins but a well-preserved city offering a glimpse into ancient daily life, with intact structures like villas, bakeries, and even brothels adorned with frescoes. The pleasant climate in Naples, with average temperatures around 15°C even in winter and soaring to the mid-30s in summer, adds to the appeal of the region.

Starting from August 3, flights from Liverpool to Naples will operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, with bookings available on easyJet.com and their mobile app. To accommodate the new routes, easyJet plans to add an additional aircraft next summer, increasing its fleet size to nine.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK country manager, expressed the airline’s commitment to providing convenient and affordable travel options for UK customers. Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s PR & Communications head, Robin Tudor, emphasized the significance of the new Naples route, offering travelers from various regions access to Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, and the Amalfi Coast. Over the past year, easyJet has expanded its network at Liverpool Airport with ten new routes, reinforcing its presence across 22 UK airports and connecting passengers to 140 destinations worldwide.
