The individual reportedly targeted in an alleged assault that led to Joey Barton’s charges has been identified. Barton, aged 43, and another man, Gary O’Grady, aged 50, are facing accusations of causing severe harm with intent after an incident at the Huyton and Prescot Golf Club in Liverpool over the weekend.
The victim, Kevin Lynch, serves as the head of NexGen Academy in Dovecot, a school catering to children with special educational requirements. Lynch is presently hospitalized in a “serious but stable” condition following the reported attack.
Merseyside Police has disclosed that two individuals were arrested after responding to reports of an assault near the golf club on Sunday evening. The victim sustained significant injuries to the face and body and is receiving medical care.
Apart from his educational role, Kevin Lynch is recognized in the local area for his involvement in non-league football, including managing City of Liverpool. Lynch transitioned to coaching after his playing career, with stints at various non-league clubs before ultimately returning to manage Prescot Cables.
His tenure at City of Liverpool was brief and faced criticism due to poor performance, resulting in his resignation after a short period in charge. This move followed Lynch’s previous coaching roles in the non-league football circuit across Merseyside and North Wales.
