A woman has tragically passed away after being attacked by a dog, as per police reports.
Beatrice Carruth, 86, was caring for a dog owned by her son when the incident occurred, leading to her death after authorities were called to her residence.
The police responded to a call in the vicinity of NE 27th Street and Highland Drive near Moore, Oklahoma, around 5:45 pm on Thursday, July 2. Upon arrival, they found a woman with severe injuries.
Efforts were made by officers to save her life by applying tourniquets to control the bleeding until medical personnel arrived.
Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, the woman succumbed to her injuries. The dog was later removed from her home by Moore Animal Control.
The Moore Police Department expressed condolences to all those affected by the tragic incident.
The dog involved was ultimately euthanized, identified as a mix of Labrador retriever and American pit bull terrier based on physical traits. It was kept in quarantine until its euthanasia on 07/06/2026.
Court records revealed that Carruth had been attacked by the dog while her son, Jason Clay Ingram, was incarcerated following his arrest for assaulting her and disrupting emergency communication at her residence.
Family members disclosed that Carruth had been hospitalized for several days after the dog’s previous attack, and they had urged Ingram to put the dog down, but he insisted on his mother continuing to care for it.
Carruth’s family is advocating for additional charges against Ingram, alleging that Carruth was coerced into keeping the dangerous animal.
