Emma Raducanu has broken her silence following her selection to represent Great Britain at the upcoming United Cup in January. The former US Open champion will team up with Jack Draper for the mixed-gender event.
Both players had to end their seasons prematurely, with Raducanu withdrawing due to medical issues and Draper dealing with an arm injury.
Although Raducanu declined an invitation to compete in the Billie Jean King Cup, she expressed excitement about making her United Cup debut alongside Draper. She stated that playing for Team GB and experiencing a new tour format in Australia would be a unique opportunity.
Draper also shared his enthusiasm for returning to competition at the United Cup and expressed interest in competing in Perth or Sydney, cities he has not visited before.
Following a challenging Asian swing post-US Open, Raducanu faced health concerns and withdrew from her remaining tournaments in 2025. However, she now has time to recover before the United Cup begins on January 2.
Meanwhile, Draper’s return to action after his arm injury at Wimbledon was brief at the US Open due to another injury. He is expected to participate in the UTS London exhibition event in December, while Raducanu is set to play an exhibition match against Amanda Anisimova in Miami.
Both players are gearing up for the United Cup in 2026 before focusing on the Australian Open.
