An adventurous traveler who has visited every country in the world shared insights on hidden gems that left a lasting impression, highlighting a lesser-known destination described as “heaven on Earth.”
Michael Zervos recently set a new Guinness World Record for visiting all 195 UN-recognized countries in a remarkable 499 days, surpassing the previous record of 554 days.
The American explorer disclosed that one country, in particular, amazed him with its stunning scenery, affordable accommodations, and natural pools with pristine waters. Reflecting on his journey with iVisa, Michael emphasized the accessibility and affordability of Samoa, stating that it epitomizes his vision of paradise on Earth.
He marveled at the To Sua Ocean Trench, a striking natural sinkhole filled with crystal-clear water, which he found to be one of the most unique swimming spots he has encountered. Michael praised Samoa’s commitment to village beautification competitions, ensuring the country’s pristine maintenance by its residents who prioritize environmental conservation.
While traveling to Samoa from the UK may involve a lengthy journey of over 33 hours with stopovers and connecting flights, Michael suggested flying from London to Auckland or Fiji for direct access to Faleolo in Samoa.
Apart from Samoa, Michael highlighted other off-the-beaten-path destinations that left a lasting impression, such as Madagascar, described as a “lost world”; Lesotho, known for its raw beauty; Bhutan, a unique destination; Suriname, where nature thrives untouched; and Eritrea, a rare gem with minimal tourist traffic, offering an authentic discovery experience.
His travels in Pakistan also captivated him, particularly Peshawar, with its vibrant markets, intricate architecture, and affordability, making it a photographer’s and filmmaker’s dream without the crowds of other bustling cities. Michael expressed eagerness to revisit Pakistan for its captivating culture, landscapes, and hospitality.
