Casualties are expected following a significant explosion in Monaco this evening, with a suspect reportedly on the run after being captured on CCTV discarding a backpack on Rue du Révérend Père Louis Frolla.
The explosion, labeled as an ‘attack,’ took place at approximately 9 pm, resulting in three individuals sustaining injuries, two of whom are in critical condition.
According to police reports, a man was observed leaving two bags outside the building just before the explosion occurred at 9 pm.
The incident happened in a residential structure located on Rue du Révérend Père Louis Frolla, with firefighters, including a team from Alpes-Maritimes, being summoned for additional support.
Shortly before the explosion while individuals were entering the building, a suspect allegedly fled on foot towards Beausoleil.
It is suspected that a man left a backpack near the building’s entrance around 9 pm on Rue Révérend Père Louis Frolla in Monaco.
Local authorities have characterized the incident as a deliberate act, with a total of three individuals sustaining injuries, two of whom are reported to be severely wounded.
Eric Ciotti, Mayor of Nice, situated just 12 miles away from Monaco, expressed, “The attack carried out this evening is a tragedy that strikes Monaco. Thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the people of Monaco. Full support for the security forces and emergency services involved.”
