A family has shared their heartbreaking experience after losing all their belongings in a destructive house fire. Nathan Abbott and Katie Craddock were at a charity event with their kids when they received the devastating news that their home in Hyde, Cheshire, was on fire. Rushing back, they found their house completely ruined by the flames.
Katie recounted how a friend informed her about the fire trucks outside her house, prompting her to find their dog, Teddy, who needed resuscitation but thankfully survived. The property held sentimental value for Katie as it was her childhood home, where they lived with their children, including Rebecca, who is partially sighted, Emily, Harley with autism, and Freddy.
The fire, believed to have started from a new fridge bought in 2021, was a shocking event for the family, who had rarely left their home in the past year. Nathan expressed the terror of the situation, realizing the potential danger if they were inside during the fire.
The upcoming Christmas season brought added challenges as the children’s gifts were lost, and a planned Disneyland trip now hangs in uncertainty. Nathan described the heartbreaking scene of returning to a blackened and smoke-filled house, with almost everything destroyed.
