A mother of five is currently hospitalized in Gran Canaria due to sepsis, and her family is eager to bring her back home to her children. Emily Casey, 34, fell ill during a holiday in the Canary Islands with her husband and kids. Just three days into their trip, she experienced breathing problems and was swiftly taken to a local hospital.
Initially, medical professionals suspected a lung blood clot, considering Emily’s recent recovery from pneumonia. However, a CT scan revealed a recurrence of pneumonia with fluid in one lung requiring drainage. Meanwhile, her husband, Jamie, cared for their children at the hotel, staying in touch with Emily through the night.
The next day, Jamie rushed back to the hospital to find his wife in a coma on life support. He reached out to their UK relatives for help, and Emily’s mother flew to Gran Canaria to assist. Jamie later returned to Liverpool with the children to make childcare arrangements before going back to Gran Canaria to be by Emily’s side.
Upon his return, Jamie received devastating news that Emily had developed sepsis, and her condition had worsened with pneumonia affecting both lungs and sepsis in her bloodstream. Over three weeks have passed, and Emily remains hospitalized, conscious but in and out of sedation.
