Far-right figure Tommy Robinson has left the United Kingdom following police warnings about threats to his safety from an Islamic State publication. Robinson, also known as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, shared a recording of a police call informing him of his mention in a magazine linked to Islamic State Khorasan Province. The police officer in the call mentioned intelligence indicating a call for violence against Robinson.
Citing concerns for his safety and that of his family, Robinson stated he had fled the country, drawing parallels to the immigrants he has criticized in the past. The Bedfordshire Police officer confirmed the legitimacy of the call, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. Robinson inquired about obtaining a copy of the publication but was informed it likely contained banned material under terrorism laws in the UK.
The officer explicitly instructed Robinson not to carry weapons or take preemptive action based on the information received. In a statement and accompanying video, Robinson declared himself a “priority target for ISIS” and explained his departure from the country as a precautionary measure for his family’s safety.
Acknowledging the situation, a spokeswoman for Bedfordshire Police confirmed the authenticity of the call, stating that the individual’s name was found in prohibited material. The police provided standard safeguarding advice and support to the individual in line with their procedures. Robinson also reached out to his followers for financial support, prompting suggestions for him to seek refuge in Israel.
